I enjoyed the exerpt you posted, and the way it is written makes me want to find out what happened to the girl and how fate entering your life changed things. Is this the opening of the book? It would make a good opening. The only other piece of advice I would have, is that once you've written your book, edit it hard. Get that red pen out and re-write, as publishers or agents much prefer a second or third draft sent to them. Good luck. I'll 'follow' you as a fan, so I can see when you write something else. Read a couple of your Hubs on your concept of the engaged life. It's a great phrase, and you are off to great start by writing about it.
