Achieve your goals - SMART Goals

If you really want to achieve your goals I have news for you – it takes a lot of effort.  I know this may come as a shock for most people but your ability to achieve your goals is a direct correlation to your willingness and desire to.  It might sound fairly simple that the amount of effort is equal to the propensity to achieve your goals but to be honest you have got to know what you are doing.  It simply is not enough for you to set a goal and hope you achieve it.

I know I can come off as relatively harsh but I have mentored many people in the past who claimed that they wanted to achieve some sort of goal but simply were not willing to put out the required effort.  I always went to these people and immediately made them set action plans for achieving their goals.  Most people HATE when they have to set specific steps in order to achieve a goal but the most successful people I have ever met always had a plan.

If you want to achieve your goals it is important to note that your goals must be SMART goals (Specific Measurable Attainable Realistic Trackable) which in essence means you have got to hold yourself responsible.  By setting these goals right from the get go then you will find that achieving them is much easier.  These types of goals always lend themselves to making you work harder.

Once you set these SMART goals for yourself, it becomes much easier to achieve your goal because you have somewhat of a blueprint to follow and thus a way to check your progress.  After you have set your goals you can begin to work on action plans to get there and I always suggest going very specific and detailed baby steps here.  The quicker you can accomplish your mini action steps the more positive and energetic you will feel about achieving your goals.

Achieving your goals does not have to be hard so long as you have set your goals realistically from the start and given yourself a blueprint to follow.  Do not simply assume that by writing or saying a goal it miraculously become achieved – you MUST work on it and work on it daily to see success.
